Are you passionate about creating intuitive user experiences and transforming complex workflows into seamless, user-friendly products? Do you enjoy owning the full journey from understanding a problem, designing a solution, building it in code, and refining it based on user feedback? If so, CyberSift is looking for a talented UI/UX & FrontEnd Engineer to join our growing team.
This is a unique hybrid role that combines frontend engineering, product design, user experience, and quality assurance. We are looking for someone who thinks like a designer and builds like a frontend engineer.
You will play a key role in shaping the usability, consistency, and technical quality of our cybersecurity platform, working closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to design, build, test, and refine user experiences across complex, data-driven security workflows.
The role is remote, however, preference will be given to candidates based in Malta.
Frontend Engineering Expertise: Strong practical experience building modern web applications using React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and component-based architectures. Confident working with modern frontend tooling, debugging techniques, package management, Git workflows, pull requests, and code reviews.
Design-to-Code Ownership: Comfortable taking ownership of a feature from requirements and problem definition through UX design, frontend implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration, without requiring another frontend developer to build the solution.
Product, UI & UX Design Skills: Proven ability to understand user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints to design intuitive, effective, and scalable user experiences. Comfortable creating wireframes, prototypes, interaction designs, and user flows when needed.
Design Systems & Component Architecture: Experience designing, building, and maintaining reusable UI components, patterns, and design systems that promote consistency, scalability, and maintainability.
Frontend Application Development: Experience integrating REST APIs, handling asynchronous application states, managing forms and validation, implementing routing, and designing effective loading, empty, and error states.
User-Centred Mindset: Ability to balance usability, user needs, business priorities, and technical requirements when designing and implementing solutions.
UX & Accessibility Knowledge: Strong understanding of usability principles, information architecture, accessibility standards, interaction design, responsive design, and inclusive user experiences.
Software Engineering Practices: Experience maintaining frontend applications, debugging production issues, managing technical debt, participating in code reviews, contributing to CI/CD processes, and improving code quality over time.
Quality-Focused Approach: Attention to detail when handling workflow complexity, edge cases, error scenarios, regression prevention, application performance, and user experience quality.
Technical Collaboration: Experience working closely with product managers, developers, QA teams, and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present ideas, implementation decisions, and design rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Pragmatic Product Mindset: Comfortable working in fast-moving environments with evolving requirements, broad ownership, and ambiguity. Able to rapidly understand problems, prototype solutions in code where appropriate, and iterate based on user feedback and business needs.
Portfolio of Design & Implementation Work: Able to demonstrate both design and coding ability through examples of products or features that you personally designed and implemented.
Continuous Improvement: A proactive mindset and genuine passion for improving products, processes, engineering practices, and user experiences.
Experience working with Enterprise SaaS, cybersecurity, infrastructure, or other technically complex products.
Familiarity with Elastic EUI or other established component libraries.
Experience with design tokens, CSS-in-JS frameworks, Emotion, and theme-aware design.
Knowledge of Jest, React Testing Library, and modern frontend testing practices.
Experience using Figma and other design and prototyping tools.
Familiarity with dashboards, reporting interfaces, data visualisation, filters, tables, and administrative workflows.
Experience optimising frontend performance and application responsiveness.
Experience contributing to frontend architecture decisions and technical standards.
As a UI/UX & FrontEnd Engineer, you will help shape the future of CyberSift's platform by creating intuitive user experiences and building high-quality frontend solutions that are used directly by customers. Your responsibilities will include:
Problem Discovery & Solution Design: Rapidly understand user needs, business requirements, technical constraints, and workflow challenges to design effective product solutions.
User Experience Design: Define user flows, interaction patterns, wireframes, prototypes, and interface designs that improve usability and support product objectives.
Feature Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of frontend features from concept and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
Frontend Engineering: Design and build high-quality, maintainable, production-ready React applications, components, and interfaces that deliver excellent user experiences.
Application Development: Integrate REST APIs, manage application state, implement routing, build forms and validation logic, and create robust loading, error, and empty-state experiences.
Design System Development: Build, maintain, and extend reusable components, design patterns, and standards that promote consistency and scalability across the platform.
Interface Modernisation: Support the migration of legacy user interfaces to our modern design framework while maintaining functionality, performance, and usability.
Cross-Platform Consistency: Ensure experiences work seamlessly across different screen sizes, browsers, themes, layouts, and navigation states.
Software Engineering & Code Quality: Participate in code reviews, maintain existing frontend codebases, troubleshoot production issues, manage technical debt, and contribute to frontend best practices and technical standards.
Quality Assurance & Testing: Define acceptance criteria, create meaningful test scenarios, contribute to exploratory, accessibility, regression, and cross-browser testing, and validate implemented experiences before release.
Automated Testing & Validation: Develop and maintain automated tests for critical functionality and user journeys using modern frontend testing frameworks.
Performance & Reliability: Identify and resolve usability issues, performance bottlenecks, technical limitations, and frontend quality concerns before they impact users.
Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback from users and stakeholders, iterate on solutions, and continuously improve workflows, interfaces, and product experiences.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain documentation for components, design patterns, frontend implementation approaches, and best practices to support ongoing product development.
